Ragazzo – Neopolitan Mastiff

I was intrigued when I first saw this dog. Not only was he huge (even for a Neo.), but he was mahogany brown. Most unusual.
This piece was commissioned only months before Ragazzo died at a young age of five, so I was pleased to be able to provide his family a lasting momento.

These portraits are hand-drawn onto a fired piece, using an underglaze pencil. Once the drawing is completed, they are fired, glazed, and then fired again.
